Biografie

 

Elizabeth Wasserman is gebore in Klerksdorp in 1964. Sy het grootgeword in ‘n piepklein dorpie genaamd Koppies, in die middel van die Vrystaat.

Sy het twee broers en ‘n suster en hulle het heeltyd vir haar stories vertel toe sy klein was. Sy wou van kleins af skryf maar het besluit om eers iets te kry om oor te skryf, en daarom het sy medies gaan studeer aan die Universiteit van die Vrystaat. Later het sy gespesialiseer aan Stellenbsoch Universiteit. Sy het ‘n liefde vir leer en om ander te help leer, en deesdae praktiseer sy as patoloog in privaatpraktyk en is ‘n buitengewone professor in Geneeskundige Mikrobiologie aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch.

Elizabeth stel intens belang in die natuur en die wetenskap, en beskou dit as uiters belangrik dat ons moet verstaan hoe die wêreld werk sodat ons alles en almal met meer respek sal hanteer.
Sy woon saam met haar man, dogter en Speurhond Willem in die noordelike voorstede van Kaapstad.

 

Biography

 

Elizabeth Wasserman was born in Klersdorp, 1964. She grew up in a tiny village called Koppies, in the middle of the Free State, in South Africa.

She has two brothers and a sister and they told her stories every day.

As a child she wanted to become a writer, but decided that it was best to first get something to write about. She started off by studying medicine at Free State University, and later specialized in Medical Microbiology at Stellenbosch University. She loves to learn and to teach. These days she is a pathologist in private practise and an extraordinary professor in Medical Microbiology at Stellenbosch University.

Elizabeth is very interested in science and nature, and believes that one has to understand how everything fits together in order to treat our ecosystem, and each other, with care and respect.
She lives with her husband, daughter and Dogtective William in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town.
